Away She Goes

I watched you walk down the street in Belgrade

Til you disappeared into the crowd.

I thought to myself,

“Two vines

Were intertwined

Over the last

Year and a half

Now part ways.

They will find each other

And grow together

Grow some more.

When or where I do not know,

In a foreign land that’s for sure.”

.

I watched your palomino ponytail sway from side to side

Not once did you look back

Nor did I break my stare.

We both looked forward

Free thinkers, nomadic movers

To our awaiting chapters onward.
